Why public sector is different
In the public sector, how you buy is as tightly governed as what you buy. Spend has to be defensible to an accounting officer and, ultimately, to the public — which means delivery routed through the right framework, business cases that clear approval gateways, and an audit trail that holds up long after go-live. A brilliant technical solution procured the wrong way is not a solution at all.
The sector is also not one customer but many. A central-government department, a unitary council mid-merger, and a blue-light force share almost no operating model beyond the constraints around them — classification tiers, national cyber-security expectations, government assurance standards, and data-protection duties where social care is in scope. Each needs a tenancy and a security design shaped to its own duties, not a generic "public sector" template.
We deliver under G-Cloud 13, partner-led from day one, with the same UK service desk that runs the rest of our estate — never a separate, lower-grade public-sector wrap. The procurement route is designed in at discovery, so the work is defensible before it starts rather than justified after the fact.
